All,

How does the interior light work out that doors are closed?? The interior light wont go out unless i manually switch it off.. Even if all doors closed, engine running etc (before anyone asks - yes i do have the switch in the right position)... What sensor does it use to detect that the door is closed?

also - i dont know if this issue is coupled - but there is an earlier thread i have on this forum talking about the window not dropping before it pops the door open (when trying to open from either inside the car or outside).

Any advice, as ever - greatfully recieved.

Cheers,

Stu.

I had this problem alongside the window not closing fully when shutting the door. Turned out the magnet for the proximity sensor had been blasted during jetwash and when I got in the car it fell off! Fortunately it was still there when I drove back to look for it...

..........or the connector for the magnet inside the door card.

One part at the bottom of the door...get on yr knees and youll see it towards the back of door....other bit hidden behind door step where the door bit lines up when you shut it!

Yeah - as you sit in the driver's seat, it'll be almost straight down from your shoulder on the outside, just above the kickplate if you have one. Little round disk about the size of a 10p coin the sits inside a ring - maybe the beaded bit you refer to? Mine's glued on now, but would previously drop off at will and roll away when the door opened!

Magnets were not visable on my old Cerb..... My guess its the magnetic proximity sensor in the door. New part readily available from RS. Theres a thread or 2 about em in the Cerb Parts Faq where you'll find the part no too. Only difference is the RS one has 3 wires instead of only 2.
They are common, normally open contacts and normally closed contacts.

My magnetic sensor is tempremental and has been since I drove the car through last years floods. I've bought two replacement ones but they've been tidied before I got around to fitting them. I've just bought two more and put them on a high shelf out of tidying hands biggrin

So my window works as normal but when the door is opened past about 6 inches winds itself back up. Pressing the door button again gets the window down to the normal position. As I shut the door past the 6 inches to go, the window starts winding back up, so you have to shut the door quickly.
