diesel consumption

I have a 2001 530d auto and currently i am getting on average about 300 miles to a full tank of diesel no matter what way i drive, i find that a mate of mine has a 1999 530d with a manual gearbox and he is getting over 400 miles to a tank, i've heard of remapping i was wondering would this help me out of it not what would?

Something is wrong there, I get aorund 400m to the tank on a mixed cycle, that is a remapped one though.

See if there are any fault codes first...

Forget remapping, your car is not running properly if you can't get 500 miles on motorway-only and 350 in stop-start city mileage

Could be something simple, could be complicated, find an independant BMW mechanic.

Remapping often improves mpg, but your problem is most likely a car fault
