Discussion
Dear Friends,
I first want to thank the members of the forum I enjoyed talking to these last years. It was a pleasure to discuss about our cars and to meet some of them on the track.
As you know I crashed my 111R in october and that happend while I was thinking changing car. I had the feeling that the modification I did on my beloved Lotus were too much track oriented and that I did not use it enough in normal life (3 kids, few private moments due to work, no sense to go to work in the Lotus...)
So I redefined my need and come to the conclusion that I will have to quit the Lotus community.
I know VERY WELL that I will NEVER find such a nice chassis, such a sense of control of the car, such a level of performance (for the price) but my hope is that usability will compensate for the loss of driving feeling.
I tried the 997 C4S, the Boxster S (just for fun as I want a 4 seater) and the new M3.
My choice goes to the BMW. This is heavy (1655 kg) but with 420 bhp and RPM till 8400 on the V8, it is a very nice double face car. Really civilised in shape and usability and also very strong above 5000rpm.
Having tried twice, I do not find 50% of the feeling of the road I had with the Lotus but that is the price to pay and I can't afford a GT3 RS or a lambo.... I think I will need to learn the reaction of the M3 over the next months as I did with the elise at the beginning
So if I was reading another guy posting this a while ago , I would think "What a shame" but now that I am in this situation all I can tell is "I REALLY appreciate the Lotus experience but want something else for the moment."
Thanks again to all
Benoît

Benoit, its been a pleasure reading your posts over the years, thank you for all of your advice.
Dont be a stranger, keep the posts coming, even though you no longer have the Elise, the knowledge you have built up will be invaluable to us novices.
Hope the Beemer puts a smile on your face

As already said, no need to disappear completely! The new M3 is one hell of a good car, I had one of the old ones for a couple of years and looked at the new one. Just couldn't justify £50K on what amounts to a third car. Maybe if I could convince my wife to give up her X5
Sure you'll have many happy miles.
