Morning guys

Last couple of weeks I have posted regarding the low running temp which has caused a 'premature' rev limit of around 6k rpm.

Hans suggested replacing the Black ECT Coolant Sensor which was done this Saturday. Unfortunately, this has had no effect. The temp still sits at around 77 degrees and drops to 73 when pressing on.

I don't think it's the thermostat as the Sherlock reading doesn't increase rapidly from start-up, and is not what I would call eratic.

Can anyone else suggest any alternatives? It's starting to drive me crazy!

Thanks
Rich

I think it may well be your thermostat stuck open - which means the car won't warm up very quickly. I'd change this next as you've already tried the sender.

What he said. Try taking the thermostat out, if nothing changes, there's your problem.

How cold is it when you run the car and can't bring it up to temp? If temperatures are as they are down here (0°C and below), you will have a hard time bringing it up to temp. Best way to bring it up is to either let it idle while not driving or driving in high gears (high revs == cooling is higher).

Normal ambient temperature, it's been doing it for weeks now so wouldn't have thought that would cause the issue.

Looks like the thermostat is the next thing to do then!
