Did anyone else catch the piece on the news about the "replica" silver arrow - which is in fact a scratch build based on a 2CV?

Thought it was great to see a scratch build making it onto the news, WTF are they doing calling it a replica?! Looks as similar to a Benz SA as my Xantia!

Having seen the car in the flesh, it's a great, nutty piece of engineering, but calling it a replica then showing the "real thing" made it look crap. frown

Nope. That's not Greg Murell's "Flyer" is it? Doesn't look at all like a silver arrow, but it's as close as any other 2CV based car I can think of. It looks more like a hot rod - think Cruella De Vil in miniature! (I think it's an awesome little design - no W154 though!)

Not that one (which is fantastic design work)

pics of it here - http://www.slowcarclub.com/06-2cv-special.htm

or to save a click...

great fun, great use of a 2CV - just lousy reporting which (IMO) does nothing but make us home build enthusiasts look, well, a bit stupid. In no way shape or form is that a "replica"!

Can you spot the difference? tongue out

hehe

no styling could have been... better.

It actually looks a bit better in the flesh than in the pics. What I liked it for however is the madness of it and it certainly looked fun, though I really do hope he was being a little (OK, extremely) "enthusiastic" with his build costs (which entered 5 figures yikes ) Going on past projects I reckon I could have had it on the road without getting into 4 figures.

Personally not my taste either.

I'm sure he accomplished what he set out to do, and hats off to him for doing so. bow

Definitely. We need more people with a bit of originality...

I've seen that car somewhere before - might have been a kitcar show or something.
