Radiator confusion
Discussion
Suffering an intermitent minor leak from my rad, so i think a repair/replacement is in order.
Recently read on here that the rad is the same as off a Mk 1 defender v8/range rover. if so this could save me a few pennies.
Can anybody give me the dimensions of their rad as i'm away form my car at the moment. mine's a 95 400.

I'm going to have to take mine out and get it re-cored or fixed, the junctions between the side tanks and main radiator are leaking, I've been quoted around £500 from dealers/indies but recently spoke to a nice guy at the Hants TVR CC meeting who took his down to Sussex Radiators and had it fixed and re-cored it for £150.
Sounds like a good idea, it's just a radiator.

I have found a number of Range Rover V8 Radiators that are the correct size and have the same mountings and main inlet and outlet connections as the one on my 97 Chimaera. They can be bought new for less that £100, but they have 2 extra small diameter pipe connections in the top right corner when looking from the back. I assume these connections are both just into the main waterway and are intended to go to a header tank unlike the TVR header connection to the swirl pot arrangement. Does anyone know if these can be blanked off and the radiator used without any problems or what is the correct Range Rover part number?
There is normally a pipe connector to the exp tank on some, if it is a pair of screw in connections they may be the oil/gearbox cooler fitted to some models. The bottom pipe connection is not normally like the TVR one, where clearance is very tight (the reason it was modified for TVRS). I have never seen a rad in a LR or shop that would fit mine, most of the brackets are subtly different also.

Guys,
Any Serck-Marston branch should be able to recore your existing rad'. I believe that you can put another row in the existing shell as well.
For people in the Southampton area, the radiator place on (or just off the main road) the A27 at Lowford did the rad from my V8S a few years ago for about £130 inc. VAT. Turned round in about 3 days if I remember correctly.
