OK - this is my first post - so go gentle.

Have just sold my Mark 1 Elise after owning it for 8 years. And yes, I am missing it big time !
I was quite amused that most of the posts on here seem to be about run-down batteries!

Anwyay, forget the Espirit (I can't afford the price tag) when does anybody think the S3 Elise will be out. I never owned a S2, and this model has been out for over 6 years now. So when will the S3 be out ? After all this Lotus' bread'n'butter car and is the most affordable. Let's face it, they've only probably sold 11 Europas :-)

I've scoured the net for pictures/hints but no success.

Any comments/thoughts welcome ?

cheers

There is the Lotus Eagle and the Exige GT3, but not sure whether a third version of the Elise is on the books ...

Forgive me, but I can't really understand why you've sold you're S1 and have then decided to see if there's an S2 replacement on the horizon. It'll probably be another 100kg heavier than the 111R, use the yota engine and have a few more comfy bits (sort of Yota powered Europa?!) but somehow be 2 sec/lap faster arounfd Hethel - please tell me I'm wrong Lotus (about the lardlaugh).
I reckon they've enough on their hands with the Eagle and upcoming Esprit, but you never know the S2 came out of the blue.

I have no official info but my deep feeling is that with the 2+2 and the esprit (again delayed) I would be VERY surprised if Lotus could pop up a new elise.
I think this market is already quite full and that they should extend the range.
What surprise me is the price of the more powerful models.
A few years ago, the elise was expensive for what you see but a bargain for what you get.
Now with top exige at 40-45000£ I think they push the bill too high but this is off topic.

Look - firstly the Europa is a joke ! That's not a Mark 3 Elise! Also, I'd love to see the Eagle in production - but Lotus are well known for bringing out drop-dead gorgegous concepts and dropping them - look at the M250!

As for the Espirit - its probably gonna be 50K. They need to sort out their bread-n-butter Elise !
