335i Exhaust

Collected a brand-new 335i on Saturday. Only the right side is giving out smoke / warm air. Nothing on the left. Rang-up BMW Customer Services and they seem to think only one is active with the other one kicking in when the engine is being worked. Seen a couple of youtube clips of both working at tick-over. Any 335i owners able to comment on this?

There is a valve in one of the exhausts, that only opens higher up in the RPM range. Apparently very simple to keep it open http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.ph...

You just have to disconnect the vaccuum supply to the actuator on the lh tailpipe - you don't even need to jack the car up. Disconnect the rubber pipe with the engine beeing off, block the pipe, back on, job done. Gives a noticeably louder exhaust note. Highly recommendable
