Flat battery indicator

Yesterday my car failed to start (turning over slow) having not used it for a few days the battery was low. I have charged the battery for about 3 hours but the indicator panel on the battery is still black, it looks like it should go green according to the words on the top of the battery. Yellow apparently indicates a dead battery. Having tried it on the car it still has not got enough power to start the car (almost). It is back on charge now, but is the battery knacked?

What's the charging rate of the charger? You probably need to give it at least 6 hours for the charger to do its thing.

I dont like admitting it but I made the charger when I was an apprentice electrician 15 years ago and it does not have an ammeter, however I have used it lots of times in the past and it has been fine.

A battery from a black window will take about 24 hours to charge with a basic charger,with our duetronics it takes about 10 hours.

Leave it as long as you can

I managed to get enough charge in to the battery to start the car, so maybe I have sorted it. The battery could have been run down by the rear wiper going tight and taking a lot of juice and I repaired it and never took the car for a run to get things back up to fully charged. All that said I think that I am probably due a new battery as the original is still on and the car is 7 years old.
