loads of things to see and do in/around stratford. Obviously home of Shakespear theres all that stuff, Anne Hathaways Cottage, the museum etc,you can hope on one of the Sightseeing buses and they will ferry you around all the sights..........it's quite nice.

And then theres the Japenesse that take photos of everything, and they're always amusing to watch. a walk along the river, or hire a small boat for half an hour (£8 I think) or theres the site seeing boats that you can hop on and go up the river.

tonnes of restaurants to choose from, The Oppo and Lambs (next door to each other in Sheep St) are excellent but difficult to get in, and Thespians Indian at the bottom of that street is very good if you want a curry. The only place I'd say to avoid is The Mayflower Chinese - it's not good. (its opposite pizza hut)

also loads of nice traditional pubs about, as is really nice wine bars, No.1 Shakespear, The One Elm and One to One are very nice wine bars. If you go into Caz Bar be warned as its a topless tapas bar and you may get more than you bargained for.

And if you get really bored, sit and watch (or listen) for me hooning in the TVR biggrin

If you like a decent pint then the Garrick pub in High St, black/white timber framed place. The Vintner in Sheep Street, as well as others mentioned, is fine for food. This is the street opposite the Garrick as you fall out. Further down Sheep Street is the Golden Bee, Weatherspoons so cheap. Other side of the river from Theatre is the Thai boathouse which is very good, near this is the Ripple a chinese sort of buffet place, not bad last time I used. Do not go into Chicago Rock/Yates wine bar if over 22. Drink and food seems to be a theme. Do the Shakespeare bit if that is your bag, the Theatre is closed for repairs at the mo. Near the river bridge where the open top buses run from is the tourist info centre. Take a boat on the river, and if you have someone you really want to impress book, and I mean book soon, an evening meal/trip on the 'Countess of Evesham' 01789 293477. Check their web site.HTH.

If you like Italian food, then Sorrento is the bee's. There's also a good Thai - The Thai Boathouse overlooking the river. If you want a good pub, then take a walk out of town a little around the back-streets.

Swans nest Hotel is fine, parking is round the corner in an NCP and they give you a pass. Middle of town so can walk everywhere.

Sorry to hijack the thread slightly, but there will be a group of us from the TVRCC Staffs & Shrops meeting in Stratford on the 19th and wonder if anyone has a recommendation for a decent car park in the town suitable for the Tiv's? Preferably close to the centre as my wife has walking difficulties, but any advice is welcome!

plenty of car parks close to town centre but all pay and display, depends what you are looking for, somewhere to meet or to meet and have a drink/food etc

basically, stratford is a pain in the butt for parking

Slacey. The four car parks in the centre are all multi storey so not best for Tivs and your wife. If you come in from M40 J15 along Warwick road just after 30 limits in Stratford you have to bear left into one way system. 100 yds later on left is Riverside car park. Nice and big and ideal for a group of TVRs. 400 yards to town from there. Still pay and display, but thats Stratford HTH. Bob.
