thinking of maybe setting a budget of £5-7k for my next car so I can free up some cash.

Loads of cars out there as options, but im drawn towards this one for some reason, even though its just sooo not right for what I need...or is it?!

Ive got a 40mile commute to work- mostly motorway, so i'll be doing in the region of 20k miles a year. Im used to getting 25-30mpg and prefer cars which wont let me down, hence my previous "addiction" with jap cars...

so, any owners out there who fancy convincing me that this is just so not the car for me, or am I totally wrong and can it do a refined, quiet motorway cruise as good as it attacks a local b-road?!

forgot to add- one like this for example...

There is no way you will see 30mpg. On occasion I drove my standard wrx like a vicar with a sore foot and only got 27mpg from a tank.

Super Unleaded diet only. If anything does go wrong it will cost a lot.

RA has silly gearing not best suited to a m-way cruise.

The RA V-Limited versions have the same 5th gear as a normal STi, might be worth looking at one of them if you want the RA and it will be used for Mway commuting.

Hmm,

Having a 22b (which has very similar DNA) I'd say it's not best suited to motorway cruising at all. It'll be noisy and in my experience there's no way you'll see 25 mpg. The only time I ever say 28mpg in my P1 (same 5th gear ratio think) was limping home off boost at 50 mph after a tyre wall incident.

But...

I'm not going to put you off the car at all. They're brilliant and you should buy one immediately. Frankly you won't care about the MPG or the wind noise when you're flying around with your bum on fire. It'll put a smile on your face every morning.

Some do, some dont.

The gearing also changes year on year on the RA's, so you need to know what the year of the car is before being able to say how suitable it would be for your use.
