Seen this at Meridien Modena and wondered if it was worth a bid?

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/297994.htm

I know its a peach but i'm struggling to see the value at 42k, i was thinking around half that as it seems to be the mark for age/mileage etc.

Always fancied one, nice colour and trim i thought.

Didn't Clarkson buy one of those for 10k? I conceed it probably didn't look that good though.....
Think Clarkson's had more owners, more miles and more rust.

It could pretty well fare that money, if in mint condition (although Meridien is known for pumping-up prices...)

Check

for other interesting options, although not all might suit your taste.

I agree. I was always under the impression that about £20k was top-dollar for a mint Merak SS. £42k is comical! To put things into perspective, a Ferrari 328 with the same mileage, in immaculate condition, would go for about £10k less than Meridien are asking for the Merak - a Ferrari 328 is more appealing to more people and a much better and faster car. I do have a soft spot for Meraks and would welcome one into my life at the right price, but the value ceiling for one, whatever its condition, can't be much more than half the sum that Meridien are asking for theirs.

This one looks a more realistic price.

Have to say that IMHO Masers are criminally undervalued, although the Ghibli is showing signs of creeping up in value (the 60/70's one that is)

Why not look at that Bora? It's similar styling, quicker than a Merak and cheaper to buy.

I was looking for a Bora but could not find a good one. The merak was a lovely car but a bit under powerd. A merak with a biturbo engine would be the way to go....
