DB9, Porsche 997 Turbo or Ferrari 612?
Discussion
Looking for some guidance/opinions and help on which of the above we should buy.
Requirements:
Looking at 3 year old cars with 2+2 seats (not optional!), it's got to be suitable for every day use.
We need to fit a baby and a 7 year old in the back.
Don't like the image of the Bentley GT.
Thanks.

DB9 and 997... you've gotta be kidding..! Only usable 2+2s in the market are the 612 (pretty usable in the back) and the Maser's (GT, GS and the 4200 Coupe).
I have fit a Group 1+ and a Group 1-3 car seats in the Maser with no probs whatsoever... some ppl here can give testament of that, as I drove once to a meet with my (then) 3 yr old daughter.

997 a bit pricey still........lots of depn still to come......
DB9 becoming decent purchase price, and sounds nice, but older image IMO.....
Masa Gransport, great car, not bad build quality, different, and sounds the bollox in sport mode, lots of space in back for adults or children!!
612, still depn, and V12 running costs won't be cheap I think.
Tried an M5 or RS6?

In my humble opinion (having driven all of these cars a few times) this is a no brainer:
1. BMWs - ah, no.
2. Ferrari 612 - not as involving as you would expect. Rather big and lumbering (as all 4 seat Ferraris seem to be), depreciates like a stone and a fortune to run. Good looking in a Sarah Jessica Parker sort of way.
3. Aston DB9 - very pretty, bit older in the tooth, some build quality issues giving nigly faults, and again expensive to run. Very good looking though.
4. 997 Turbo - very reliable, cheap to run (by supercar standards) and still fairly desirable in the 2nd hand market. But you will be a 'Porsche' driver - either loved or loathed.
Porsche it is then. Good luck hunting.

ps. you will need to chop the legs off anyone travelling in the back of a DB9.

Are 911s any good in the back?
Do you not need the same home amputation kit?
I used to run 911s when my kids were young with no problems at all. We are talking 7 and under here. Admitedly my current one is not much use in this regard. Do you not need the same home amputation kit?
Don't get me wrong, I am not an out and out Porsche fan. It just seemed the best car to get at the time.
Maybe the new Granturismo might be the future answer as no one seems to have cracked the 4 seat sportscar emigma yet.

A genuine question as with a 6 year old and a 2 year old I am in that position myself.
Are the rear seat in 911 cabs the same?

The only real problem with owning a coupe like these as a main vehicle is that the kids can sometimes struggle to see out of the rear windows - as long as you don't mind 'are we there yet?' after about 5 miles then you are ok.
Also my wife likes to drive a Porsche. Hated the Ferraris and Aston (manual) to drive. But then maybe that's a good thing !

Vanquish?
If you're looking 612's at £100k, then there's plenty of Vanquish's avaialble at this price.
far better than a DB9, and can squeeze a smidgen more space in the rear, even managed to get a freind's 15y/o in the back for a short journey in one.
Otherwise, would have to be a 997TT for me, but then I'm lurking from the Porsche fraternity!!

Recently sold Db9 - great car but just not practical spacewise if you have kids. Ditto 997. 612 an aquired taste and different but have been witness to a number of major mechanical probs with them. Maser GT good option but depreciation likely to be hefty. Bentley - a lot of car for your money s/h - but doesn't rock my boat. I'm waiting for prices of s/h CL 63 AMGs to reach a reasonable level - space, pace and a certain grace - all wrapped up in a fairly anonymous package - which in my book is a good thing, or for half the money may go for the new C63 AMG Estate - surely when comparing with all the above an absolute bargain when it comes to 'bangs for your bucks'?
