I didn't do it through the arcade mode and instead am currently working my way through the whole game again on Veteran - this affords you the benefit of having unlimited retries instead of only 3 lives before having to restart again. There have been a few bits that were proving difficult so far (up to the 2nd sweep through the village looking for al-asad at the moment - the one where you use C4 in 4 places to blow up the building - found an alternative - there's a rocket launcher hidden up in the clocktower that you can blow it up with too - found it completely by accident when running away from bullets)...

There are some really tough bits to get through on Veteran - the TV station I found to be one of them (both inside the main room with all the desks and outside afterwards at the building with the front of it missing - snipers galore), and then helping to secure the tank in the bog took me a little while to get a good strategy too as well...

Then there's the Sniper-standoff waiting for the chopper if you don't have a good strategy and the minor inconvenience of the mile high club wink

Stay left when you rope down from the chopper and wait for lots of dudes to come from one of the buildings on the left that's also used in the multiplayer map (the one with the heavy MG mounted and basement). I try to sit back a bit when trying to complete a very hard level as your just banging your head against the wall. Having said that I earned a 'G' achievement points for trying to do the same bit of a level about 50 times due to the difficulty setting.

If you start from the very beginning in arcade mode you can earn lives as you go through, or loose them. If your doing it on-line then check out the leaderboards to see what you need to achieve to be NO1.

Ive just got to this bit this morning, tried it for about half hour so far with no joy, its quite annoying though as its autosaved about half way through with me standing in the open with 4 or 5 enemies in front of me, so each time I start again I have to sprint for cover. Also out of sniper rounds.

Might be better to restart the level, as much of a pain as it is, I followed the guide on this page and managed it on my 2nd attempt so it's pretty reliable:

I'm doing my best to get through the whole Veteran setting without using a guide, it's a hard game to get through on this setting, but at least I'm getting my money's worth out of it biggrin

I'm redoing the game on Veteran but am dreading the end of the sniper mission when you're waiting for the helo! On Hardened it took about 2hrs of constant retrying and restarting the whole level before I managed to get in the thing, I knew the Xbox was getting dangerously close to being thrown out of the window and luckily didn't die whilst climbing aboard!

Does anyone have any hints for this bit? Otherwise I'm pretty sure I'll not even attempt it, which seems a shame as I've really enjoyed all the other missions in the game.

See two posts above, posted a link to a great guide for getting through that section.

It does pale into insignificance though compared to completing the epilogue on Vet.

Irritatingly I can't look at that link at work as the page is blocked! Will have to try and remember to have a look at it when I get home!

What's your score?

I did it 60,000 odd points beaten by about 40 points by another PH'er who's name I forget.

Or you on about the other mile high club?

This took me about 20 goes to complete. I kept dieing within the first minute of going into that room as I couldn't find a good hiding spot.
Best thing I did was sprint into the building that is opposite the room you came out of. Kill the guys in there then keep your eyes peeled as guys keep running into there to kill you. Just sit in that room for 10 minutes, occasionally peeping out to kill the ones who wont run in and try and kill you!
Dreading the MacMillan rescue mission on vet frown
