Tom Tom in Australia and New Zealand

I'm off to New Zealand then Australia and have been looking on the Tom Tom website and you can buy maps for both those places on there.
1. Has anyone got any experience as to how good they are
2. Do I just download and install them and go?
3. Will the Tom Tom have enough memory for these?

I have a Tom Tom 510 by the way.
