I am considering joining the ranks of Esprit owners and I am a bit concerned about the possible cramped driving for tall drivers. I am 6'-1" tall with 31" leg length. Any other tall members out there to share there experiences concerning driving the Esprit
Hi there, Iam 6'-3" and have long legs. To really get over the legroom issue I've just installed some GT3 seats. Now my legs are under the steering wheel as opposed to around the sides.
Cheers,
Dave Walters
As Dave, I'm installing the GT3 Seats as these give considerable more legroom.
Also get yourself a pair of the puma sportcat trainers (sparco also do them under license) these will give a little extra legroom (v.thin soles) and are quite narrow so you can move your feet around the pedals.

I didn't realise I was so short! thanks for the tip of the GT3 seats. Did you have any problems getting them. If not where did you get them from?

GT3 Seats from
http://freudhoefer.de/lotus/esprit/
or alternatively Sport 300 seats from
www.sjsportscars.co.uk/home.asp
The Sport seats are cheaper than the GT3 seats but are much more like race seats.
Other companies can be found on Kato's site:

im 6'2"+ 210 lbs. I have my seat a little forward with the tilt all the way to the wall and the lumbar filled. It took a couple of weeks to get the sweet spot dialed in, but it always seemed like a tall driving car, with the pedals so far in.... BTW I love it and its WAY comfy. The seats hug you and the cabin is very luxurious. Both me and my wife prefer the comfort of the s4s over our 2003 infinity g35 sedan, wich was supoosodely the best car this year....
Hi everyone, I bought my seats on Ebay very cheap. I won't tell you how much as you'll only start crying.
They came out of a GT3 with only 12K on the clock then stored for 5 years in a garage, basicall brand new. I don't know how much these are brand new but know that they were a bargain, that's why I kept them in the end.
If you are after GT style seats then I know a replica that fits because I've tried them and was going to order a set. They will cost you £175ish per seat plus fitting kit £36 per side plus £12 delivery. Unfortunately there's VAT to add. They come trimmed in cloth in virtually any colour but standard colours is the above quoted price. If anyones interested then send me an e-mail and I will give you their number.
For a no cost tip on how to gain a bit extra room:-
1. Undo the nuts under the car for the seat. Remove the rear spacers and put them on the front. This sits you a bit lower and also supports your thighs. I did this and it works.
2. Take your runners off and bolt the seat to the floor. This means drilling four new holes.
3. Buy a smaller steering wheel, sometimes this helps.
4. Peel back your rear carpet and remove some of the firewall insulation. I personally wouldn't recommend this one, as the firewall is there for a reason.
5. Modify the floor. As it's GRP, it's also on a raised section. This can be modified to be lower.
6. Remove the backing of your seat. This only makes a slight difference and may not be worth it.
Hope some of this helps.
