So - where and when do people see the bottom share prices for the UK banking sector - specifically, Lloyds and Barclays?

The yields are looking really good at the moment with Lloyds in the £4.30's (over 7% yield) and Barclays in the £4.60's.

My own view is that Lloyds' risk profile and predominantly domestic banking focus means that they are less likely to make any more large write downs due to SIV's that Barclays, but then Barclays share price historically outperforms Lloyds as a result of Barcap I guess.

With Citigroup announcing today another $18.7bn write down and sacking 32,000 employees it makes me want to hold off for a bit longer...

Looking at a medium to long term investment - 2 to 5 years.

Pete,

Impossible to time the market - I currently hold RBS, LLOY and AL. in financials (high yield portfolio), and if I were to be buying tomorrow LLOY/RBS would be top of list.
