Its a mondeo underneath amd yes it has 4wd, Very rare aswell.Space wise its good but afaik its not a class leader in that respect
Are they quite rare then, the one on here seems quite reasonable for year. milage? Are the mondeos 4 wheel drive?
Would the mondeao be better for service cost etc?
Ive had one from new,2yr old in May. They are a very good car.
Clever all wheel drive that works well, very tractable, easy to drive engine for all normal road use.
Nice place to be inside and comfortable on long journey's, I can't think of any extras I would require adding to what is a decent spec in terms of goodies ( I had the only option available fitted, the sat nav).
Watch out for the fact the rear seats do not fold down, if you require any load lugging duties.
MPG is pretty good, considering its 260BHP.
The only problem I have had, and this is because I have tracked it,is the brakes struggle with the weight of the car, they stop it fine, but I have warped the discs twice. I don't put this down to a fault of Mazda, it was/is not intended as a track car, but you've just got to haven't you?
PS. I'm pretty sure the MPS does not share the mondeo platform.

Many thanks for imfo what do you get mpg roughly & are the back seats good for 3 kids (is there a full 3rd seat belt?)
Did you look at other cars before this as i am looking at saab 9-3, audi a4, Bmw 3 series, Its a hard one???
I dont do loads of miles , mrs uses it mostley but ishe has a vrs fabia which is a diesel, very fast & she loves it but the back seats are getting a bit tight for the 3 kids?
Ian,
There's loads of room in the back and yes 3 full seat belts. I have never really checked MPG accurately but on recent trips from Manchester to London I,m getting about 300 - 350mls per tank, so very roughly it's averaging about 25MPG, but I don't hang about, if you know what I mean.
The other cars I was looking at when I got the Mazda were-
Focus ST - No cruise control option (the reason I was changing from my previous car, an Audi A3 was it was crippling me on long journeys) so the ST fell away.
Astra VXR - Long waiting list at the time
Audi A4 - Seating same as A3, so no go.
Modeo ST 220 - the Mazda beat it fair and square for me.
I have previous experiene with Mazda and knew they were comfortable, also very reliable, also liked the dealer and service, and got a good deal so decision was made.
If your missus likes quick cars I gaurantee she will not be let down, it is, and always will be an underated piece of kit with no badge status, but I always buy what I like not whats fashionable.

Ian,
The A4 and Modeo are 4 door, I can't find the 6MPS for sale in the classifieds, can you post the link?
I do know Mazda have the new 6 range out, but it is very recent and as yet the new 6MPS is not in the line up.

Looks good to me.
Same colour as mine, but 16000mls less use and a clear 10 grand less than I paid.
A lot of car for the money, worth a closer look if it ticks your boxes.
Again, I can only say these are a seriously good car, but will be overlooked by most.
John.
Many thanks for help John, I will give the bloke a ring! I like cars that are not the norm (hence our skoda fabia vrs, & what a great car that is!!!) It is a shame that her car is so nice because if i get something not that good & will be in big trouble!!Same colour as mine, but 16000mls less use and a clear 10 grand less than I paid.
