Has anyone, or any kit car company tried to make a replica of the SPEED 12 , or even tried to modify a cerb ?

God, I hope not!

The Speed 12 is unique and should remain that way.

Buy something Japanese if you want to add loads of extra plastic bits.

I'm sure I heard of a company a while ago who could kit up a Cerb for you to look like the speed 12. Blimey I cannot remember the name of them, but yes it can be done with a nice wedge of cash. If the moulds are around it's just a simple case of fibreglassing surely? Unless you want the interior and engine etc to match, that would be harder to achieve.

Google it?

Building a Speed 12 engine is a big business. You need two Straight 6s, and then a nice block to fix it all together etc. Not an easy task, Doable, but it'd cost mega bucks to do it all again from scratch. It'd be fun to see if someone could do it though.

I think the 12 was the original AJP engine design, the 6 and the 8 were made after the 12 based on it's modular design. I suspect then a proper 12 would require a lot of different parts to two 6's so you'd have to build the whole thing from scratch. However they were all built by Al Melling's company I thought and he is obviously still going so surely he holds a copy of all the blueprints for the original designs. With a large wedge of cash i'm sure someone could approach him to knock one up, or maybe even a job lot for Cerb conversions! No idea what the unit cost might be though apart from 'alot'!
