Cup Car engine in pieces at the moment -new barrels, pistons and poss crank required -any sensible (hah, from you lot!) suggestions as to what else should be changed/checked while it's out?

NOT 3.8 conversion and clutch and flywheel look AOK.

May change oil pump as a matter of course.

I'd probably say must be changed & also all the oil pipes & oilways in block & the oil tank to be very carefully checked, as it just seems to me its bit too co insidental that the first time it gets run on slicks (in your ownership i know it raced on 'em yrs ago) it goes pop.

Of course things do happen by complete co insidence but its just got me pondering thats all.

Where's Roadrunner when you need him?

I'm dying for him to suggest twin turbos, nitrous and a few accessories from Atco...

D'ya think something could have got shaken loose then?

And Colin has sensibly read ALL of my thread. It's got hot film, larger throttle body, revised cams and inlet valves already....

Maybe worth getting the block and rods x-rayed before rebuild if you have suffered a blow up, check values in case of minor contact and seats, otherwise clean, clean, and clean all components again and again, all oil ways in particular

Latest on the Cup Car engine. Apparently it has been poorly assembled with non-standard washers, gaskets and 'other parts' during the previous rebuild (RS Tuning in Germany, I understand.....) The crank has passed the crack test, so that can be re-ground, but barrels, pistons, valve guides, oil pump will be replaced. Whole system will be blown thru and cleaned out. Run on Magnatec for 500 miles or so, then on to Mobil 1. Any other suggestions???

On track at Silverstone 27/8 and then lazing in the sun at Eynsham Hall, I hope!!!

Ok, I'm sitting with a stress-relief ball firmly clutched in one hand, while I tap in the following 2 questions with the other
1) what was the previous rebuild in aid of ?
2) ( grips ball tight) whats estimated cost of all this ?
