I'm consdiering the above as a replacement for my Focus in either SE or Sport variant.

What are your thoughts of this engine, is it peaky? Also would you suggest that the Sports suspension is worth having over the SE's set-up? I would end up speccing both to a similar standard in terms of eqipment, so the main difference will be the seats and suspension.

Thanks,

Paul.

If you can stretch to it, go for an S-Line.

I've driven both sport and SE models extensively, the SE 'comfort' suspension makes me fell ill, wallowy, squishy and generally not nice. We try and avoid stocking them at all.

Interesting... is there much difference between the sport and s S-line suspension set-ups? I'd need to contribute to an S-line, and as my tax will be going up a fair chunk from the Focus, i wanted to avoid this. I'll have to get test driving...

Its a very personal subject. I had a 3 door S-Line A3 for just under a year and thought that the suspension was fine. SE suspension on the other hand is very soft, very, very soft.

It all depends on your definition of firmness........
The best thing you can do is just drive them both, see what you think.
On the seat subject, i personally thought that the SE seats were horrible, S Line were superb.

I took delivery of my new company car last week, (A3 Sportback TDI170). I too looked at the SE, but decided that I prefered the suspension set up of the sport, I also prefered the seats in the sport model. One week into driving it and I'm sure I made the right choice. Great engine, especially in the mid range.
