Driving around South London last night. Red lights at the cross roads. I stop, within about 10 inches of the fat white line. Suddenly this traffic lights camera starts flashing like mad! First I thought it was the car next to me, but he seemed level i.e. not touching the white line...

Could I get done, given that my wheels were not touching the white line? The Porsche 928S2 has a long nose, but still, I repeat, I was not touching the white line and my car was not in the area reserved for pedestrians...

Thanks in advance

This has happened to me too. I was worried enough to stop and watch other cars going through. What seeemed to be happening is that any movement at all (rolling back, or just creeping toward the line) once the light had gone red was enough to set the camera off. Any photographs would not show the car had crossed the line so there would be no case, but as it was happening at every cycle, the chances of there being any film left before long would be remote!!

This is not the same, this driver clearly committed an offence as the red/yellow combination is not yet green and therefore he should not yet go.

With the 928 I suggest that you will hear no more because the speed shown will be zero (I assume you were stationary).

You'll only have to ask for the photos. It shouldn't be too hard to prove that the line in front of your car was stationary.

You're fine.

The inductive loop thing that triggers the camera is positioned about 6 inches past the white line.

It's worth noting that a new breed of traf light camera is being rolled out. Doesn't need film, digital pics etc downloaded direct to FP office.

I've seen where they've been testing them in development and blimey talk about trigger happy!

I'll see if can find a pic and post back.

At the lights concerned, because the road is a dual NSL and the amber time is so short, I've taken to approaching at no more than 40 just for self preservation. Been a few folks rear ended by numpties.

Promised to find a pic.

Just taken a look at Steve Warren's site www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk and its on there as the TriEye1000.

Recognise the junction in the pics too!
