Tyres for a Civic VTi?

Just bought a '98 Civic Aerodeck VTi, generally enjoying Vtec and driving experience.. it'll need some new boots at the front soon so i am just wondering what tyres what would be best?

i'm having great fun with the toyo t1rs i have on, although they are oversize... either way, most tyre makers do a tecent tyre in 195 50 15, so if you don't mind dropping your size a little, there's loads to choose from...

I found the stock RE720's to be pretty good. Got them on the wife's 306GTi-6 and they're better in the dry than the Eagle F1's on her old Zetec-S. Wet-performance is more than adequate too...

Heard very good things about Hankook RS2. have a stiff sidewall and available in 205/50x 15. listed someplaces as track tyre but has plenty of wet weather ability due to tread pattern. £59 from camskill. The OEM Bridgestone RE010 is also an excellent choise. Avoid tyres with soft sidewalls like toyo T1 as you will loose a lot of steering feel and turn in sharpness. you wont go wrong with these two. I am going to try Toyo R888 as a road tyre in few months when it warms up, but will need a lot of care in wet.

Many thanks gents! I currently have Pirelli P6000's are they a hard sidewalled tyre or soft? They seem reasonable in the dry but quite sketchy in the wet!

P6000s are satans tyres, anything will be an improvement after them!

Eagle F1s are always a safe bet if you can get them in your size?

P6000s are naff. Change them as soon as. RE010's are great in the dry, compromised in the wet. RE720's a better all-round tyre, but loses a little bit of dry grip and turn-in. F1's in 195/55/15 are GSD-2 only and are far too squidy in the sidewall to be fun in the dry.

I'm hearing good stuff about Yokohama Parada Spec II's. Not tried them yet but I plan to once I've worn my winter tyres out.

I agree that Toyo T1R's are a good bet. I use them on my Civic VTI and find them as good or better than anything else I've tried.

Does anyone have any experience of the Avon ZV3? Like the sound of the Bridgestone RE720 seem a little difficult to track down in 195/55vr15 and it would appear they don't make Yoko Parada Spec in that size either!!

avoid Avon road tyres. Prada only available in 195/50x15. This is also meant to be of a diff construction to the 16" and not as good as the larger diameters. Toyo got a new tyre out next month called R-1R. stiffer sidewalls than the jelly like T-1. Blackcircles used to stock bridgestone RE720 if your local tyre place cant get them.

I had Pirelli P6000 and was relieved when they finally wore down to about 2.5 mm so that I could replace them! I had Toyo T1-R's on the back and have been impressed with them so fitted a set on the fronts. Great tyre for the money. Check out the reviews at blackcirle, etc. A highly rated tyre!

i find R888's or yoko paradas spec 2's are good for the track and dry days...

in the wet and long distances id go for p6000 or p7000 pirellis
