A bit petty I know but..........

My 911 C2 (964) gets around 22mpg overall and 25mpg on longer journeys. My new (to me), 12K, recently main dealer fully serviced 1999 355 GTB F1 has used well over half a tankful of super unleaded in 90 miles. If the guage is linear and 1/2 tankful doesnt include the reserve tank (ie 1/2 of 16 gals) I am getting no more than 10mpg on steadyish point and squirt b-road driving getting used to it

With a bit more experience and dry non greasy roads this will probably drop to 7-8mpg

Dare I ask if this normal?

The fuel guage is not linear. It drops a lot quicker when you get below the half way mark than when you're above it.

Ive been doing some maths, and on average, giving it a quick blast around every so often on some nice country roads Ive been getting about 14-16mpg! Not great, but admit it, that engine eggs you on!

I used to get about 200 miles out of a tank in mine. Seem to remember that was about 12 mpg.

Suppose i've been doing well then, tho it has been a bit greasy for full throttle!

That fits in with my rough calculations of around 15 mpg.

But on a nice steady 75-80 run down to Plymouth on a Sunday morning with not a care in the world, the sun shining, and the promise of lovely Spanish roads ... I got about 27mpg in my 348 Spider.

You just need to do loads of nice long cruising to balance out the hooning biggrin

Over 5k miles of Euro motoring I got 21mpg. And keeping the engine under 4k revs was rarely on the agenda.

This represents mixed road types.

Edited to add that it was also calculated brim full to brim full on the mileo. So more accurate than estimating from the gauge (which is notoriously shite).
