sorry but what DSLR £300 - £400
Discussion
Hello
I am in the market for a DSLR, I had huge fun playing with 35mm slrs but got rid of the lot when I got married. Numbness of time has allowed me to forget the reason why I sold my OM4 Ti, OM1, OM2 etc and a load of excellent quality zuiko lenses etc..
I reckon that a budget of £3-400 should buy me a quality body and lens. Any other bits will be a bonus.
I have looked at the Olympus e-410 which seems to be in budget and quite well received by reviewers. Have any of you got recommendations of this or any other DSLR.
p.s. there are a couple of traders on ebay who offer quite good prices on gray import (USA?!?) e-410 but it looks like the Olympus warrantee would be null and void if purchased from a non-authorised dealer. I can’t get hold of the e-bay trader so have given up on these wasters, but is it possible to buy a warranty elsewhere for gray import gear?

£288 Canon warrantied recon Eos 400D from Ebay? That would leave a good amount of money for a prime and a decent zoom. Most of these aren't reconditioned at all but new stock.
I've just seen they sold a 400D body only for £230, and a 30D body for £320. Wish I had seen those when they were up.
Caveat: For all that it is Canon's official store, check the feedback, it's not perfect. http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFe...
Shame Nikon don't have a store on there!
Nikon and Canon are possibly (these things are never certain) going to announce the D80 and 400D successors at Las Vegas in Feb, so might be worth hanging on. If nothing else, the existing cameras should drop in price even if the new hardware isn't immediately available.

From the look of what you sold, you like Olympus. I used to use an OM1/2/4Ti as well but now use Canon (in the process of trying to sell Nikon Gear).
However, my parents have an Oly E1 kit and there is something about the images it poduces that I really love. The ZD range of lenses are superb (and likey the reason behind that) and i understand the kit lenses are of good quality too. Make sme hanker after another Olympus, totally irrational i know as its only a tool but there you go. Even though its a bit slow compared to up to the minute dslr's, has slower focusing and is noisier as well, i do try to borrow it sometimes as its great to use.
Having held a 410 and 510 once my D2x is gone i might be tempted.....
