140k as in 140 British K's?

Blimey!

A quick scout of Autotrader suggests £200 - £215k

How much would import theft and shipping costs roughly?

Yeah it's 280,000 dollars but with the current situation $=£ it's just over 140,000 i think around 142,000 so a bargain! but i have no idea what brown and the thieves will take from me! i can ship the cdar for around £2500 (rough estimate) anjd i'm guessing i have too pay V.A.T so 17.5 percent?

I think it's normally 12 months until you have to re-register it, assuming it is registered abroad, not sure how they know though.

Is there any duty you have to pay in Dubai ? In theory you should be able to claim this back.

It will also need to be UK registered, so will need an SVA, which will include chaning the lights, adding an MPH speedo, adding a rear fog light - might be worth a call to Lambo to see what that will cost. IIRC converting a Carrera GT from European to UK spec costs £18k. Also worth considering what the resale value might be.

Rick,

If you are coming back to live in the UK you can bring a car back with you free of import duty and VAT, but you must own (and use) the car for 6 months abroad and have lived there for 12 months. You have to provide C&E with proof of this such as utility bills/car insurance/logbook etc from Dubai.
The SVA route should be fairly straightforward, you can email me through my profile if you want, my company specialises in this sort of work and I can give you some advice.

Cheers

Surely if buying it there brand new then you should be able reclaim or avoid the local taxes although they are only a fraction of the rip off we pay here.

LHD variants of our UK Lambo's appear to be anywhere from 20-40k behind a UK RHD sourced vehicle so it looks like a good deal at the moment.

Just wonder what will happen to UK prices if this supposed credit crunch takes hold???

A lot of previously hard to get hold of vehicles are now available at fairly short if not immediate notice?? This has to affect the residuals??

Ditto this - undertook this myself upon return from the US 2 yrs ago. You are also restricted from selling the imported vehicle for the next 12 months to avoid people turning a quick profit.

Buy it adapted for disabled and there is no VAT to pay, any simple thing will do like extending the pedals, there was a big scam not so long ago with someone doing this.

4th para down - http://www.import-car.info/customs.shtml

May not necessarily be applicable now, but it certainly was when I imported the Mustang in 2005.

Ah, get ya-only applicable if you have owned it prior to bringing it over here.
