Are there any lock upgrades available for the doors?

My locks which I'm sure are the same as any one elses are rubbish.
I'm not going to say how but its not hard to get into my car, they are old school ford locks after all.
Does anyone know of any upgrades to the locks?
IIRC they are escort Mk2/capri door handles despite the TVR logo.

I did a search on the forums but didn't find anything.

I suspect that putting better locks on an S wouldn't really stop people from getting in if they really wanted to - after all it is a convertible so why would you want to go to all the trouble Chris??

Good point I guess, and its not just the lock thats weak is it?
The whole door mechanism is about as complicated as a pencil sharpener.

My car has no immobiliser at all either - it had some crappy old sparkrite alarm under the bonnet which when I checked it out properly wasn't connected to anything!

Hmmm, did look at this myself and nothing obvious came to mind but if anybody knows a good alternative lock I would also be interested. What I have done is to fit one of those competition master switches into the main battery lead with a removable key, almost out of habit from rallying. They are actually pretty cheap. (Incidentally I made up a stainless battery tray with the lock mounting built in to make it that little bit neater, I will have the details somewhere and my son has made up a couple more of these stainless battery trays for other S types at a fair price)

I guess it depends what you want to achieve.

Any S, like many convertibles, is fairly easily accessible to the determined so if you're aiming to deter people from taking things from the cabin then the answer is simple- don't give them the opportunity... If the aim is to stop someone taking the car then its possible to add your own hidden immobilisor switch in order to deter the (slightly) more determined.

I also use a disclok which, whilst it's not going to stop someone who's specifically interested in your car, seems to be sufficient to deter your friendly local youth from trying to go for a joy ride...

I don't want to depress you, but regardless of what locks you fit it will always be easy to get in. The locked doors are a deterrent and nothing more. Assume that anyone determined to get in will get in, and concentrate on removing any incentive for a smash-and-grab attack, and make sure that it is not possible to drive the car away once you are inside.
