Anybody know if the gauges are actualy supposed to come apart ?? I'm trying to repair the oil gauge as its permantly stuck on 30 psi and thought i'd see if I could get it to work properly. The units look pretty well sealed to me ?? If so where can I get one to match ?

Hi Simon. Special tool i think. The gauge is best sent off to speedy cables for repair or replacement. They can replace with a new gauge (approx 25 quid for gauge) and reuse your old face plate. Otherwise a new one has what face with red needle (i think).

I think ... it was a fair time ago ... that the only way into a 2nd hand Chim water temp guage I bought was with a hacksaw through its moulded plastic case at the back. Never got round to finishing the job, but it would have been easy enough to glue a bit of plastic over the access hole I'd made, and the thing would still have mounted on the dash as before.

get a second hand one from ebay or the breakers...... or send it of to speedy cables, my guess is the former option would be the cheaper.

we took a speedo apart, and there was no way it was going to go back together again.
