Guys

My business partner has an Austin Healey 100/4 that needs a refresh or restoring (I've not actually seen the car yet - seeing it at the weekend).

Does anyone have any suggestions as to whom to recommend for this? ]

Quite prepared to travel but would prefer a business in and around the M25.

Many thanks

Although not even near the M25 its worth considering the best might not be around the corner so a few hours travelling for a lifetime of fun does not sound that bad.
I would try Murray Scott Nelsons in North Yorkshire, i have seen there work and it is outstanding, the numerous concours trophies give a good indication. Flash premises (No) but they know Healeys and it seems to me they eat drink and sleep Healey

I can recommend JME Healeys in Leamington Spa, also Rawles

I agree that for such specialist skills you need to be prepared to go anywhere, and also wait too.

Denis Welch: http://www.bighealey.co.uk/

Again, not near the M25, but an excellent reputation.

another vote for murray scotts, I restore Mg's and am based about 15 mins away, have bought parts from them in the past, their work is good, not cheap but good. There is a comparative restorer in HULL I won't mention the name in accordance with naming and shaming on this board but avoid like the plague.

However has he considered doing a large portion of the work himeself? If he is mechanically savvy he can strip it to a tub, send the tub off to any body shop to be welded, prepped and sprayed along with the exterior panels, then steadily refit all the parts himself.

Just a thought!

I would stay away from murry scott nelson, my dad had a few problems with him and I know of another few healey people who would advise you stay away. The Northern Healey Center, Cape International and Denis Welsh would be my choices.
