Is there any point in just having a remap done without having the exhaust etc.

I have been thinking about a remap but can't afford the exhaust system just yet.

Depending on what changes are made yes. You can even get the tune based on having the exhaust later, power will increase when the exhaust is done.
But if its a bespoke dyno tune, you might want to wait as ideally the tune is taylored for the engine mods. (ie it wont be optimal until you get the engine to the same mod level as the tune is designed for)
You might want to ask your tuner of choice what they change. Things like auto trans shift firmness, throttle response (ETC) and torque management adjustments will be of benefit with or without the exhaust, but fueling and spark changes will rely more on the mechanical nature of the intake and exhaust environment etc.
