Hello from a new Z4 owner

Hi All,
just wanted to say hello. I collected my 2003 BMW Z4 2.5se at the weekend, and so far, despite the bad weather, i am loving it. It is my first ever soft top car, so cannot wait for some nicer weather.
Just two general questions -
What is/are the best product/s to use to treat the softop? And how often should you treat it?
My 18inch ellipsoid alloys could do with a but of a refurb/touch up. Do BMW garages offer this service, and if so how much would i be looking at per wheel?

Thats funny, I've just purchased almost the exact same car at the wknd. Unfortunately I don't pick it up until the middle of next week though!
Mine's silver with the same wheels! There was a slight scrape on one of the alloys and the bmw dealership that I bought the car from said they would have it refurbed. They use a local chips-away type guy who works on all the cars they have.
So I would suggest you contact one of them direct to save you a few pounds. Believe it's about 50-60 pound a wheel.
Good luck with the car mate they are fantastic fun, as for the hood from ebay you can get a product called "renovo" which is excellent for the hood and as for the wheels stay clear of BMW for this job they will charge you a fortune, get some quotes from local bodyshops to re-paint your wheels..
How wierd. Just sold our Z4 last week. 2.2SE with the ellipsoid wheels...! Regards refurb, make sure you get a guarantee that the repaired wheel(s) will have the same colour and finish as the others as I have seen some odd finishes on some of them.
By far the best for this stuff are Pristine in Milton Keynes who have been doing refurb wheels for years. They do all sort of complex stuff including diamond-cut facing and also do split rims which most places won't touch. Things is, you have to get your car (or wheels) to MK, but they are the best (IMHO).
Might be worth asking your dealer if they can loan you a set of crapper wheels and types while you whizz yours off to get them refurbed...? I had this done on one of my cars.

That is a coincidence hugepiece - great minds think alike eh? What was the reasoning behind your change? For me, i had a good 4 years of Cerbera ownership, but i had had enough. I wanted someting fun, without a roof, and what could eb used as an every day car and would not need pampering and money thrown at it too much.
Roop - i am getting all 4 wheels refurbed, and it is booked into Pristine Wheels at the end of this month. I just love those 18' ellipsoid alloys, so want them to look as good as poss.

I had the Cerb for a year and absolutely loved it but it cost me SOOOOOO much money to run, plus as i'm doing more miles not it wasn't so practical. I wanted a soft-top for the summer something nice and easy that you can just get in and drive without any hastle. Well i'm loving the Z4 so far, miss the Cerbs power and noise but my wallet is getting a rest for a while!

Nice one. I looked at S2000s and Mercs too, but the Z4 came out tops on all accounts in the end. Enjoy.g
