Lightening strikes twice - Focus 2001 HELP!
Discussion
Hi all,
I've posted a similar problem previously with regards to the same vehicle, ford focus 2001 1.6 zetec, suspected electrical problem. Signs are the speakers crackling on load and sometimes the speedo needle jumping.
I changed the spark plugs which worked (they looked cheap and had incorrect gap sizes). However a month down the line and i'm getting signs of the same problem developing again. Last time the engine was getting slight hesitation as well and i swear I felt the same thing this morning!? It was suggested last time to change the plugs as it sounded like a voltage spike, if this is the case what else can cause this? Spark plug cables? soon to fail coil pack? The vehicle has done 72k is it time to change anything? Any ideas would be a great help!

Try doing the HT leads. Could be that the connection to one of the the plugs is knackered. When you changed the plugs last time, putting the leads firmly back in place masked the problem but it has now worked its way loose again.
ETA Start at the spark and work your way back. If new leads doesn't solve it, try the coil and so on...
