My local garage sells it, never used it before as I prefer Shell V Power or Tesco 99.
But the car was running on fumes so I've just put 1/2 a tankfull in and it seems to run OK, unlike when I've used Esso 97 or BP 97 when it runs like a lumpy pig, strictly for emergency use only IMO.
Not looking to open up another petrol debate, but never heard Total 97 mentioned on here and thought this might be useful to someone

Thanks for the info. I thought of using it too recently when all the Shell stations my way ran out of V-Power - but went to the Tesco 99 instead. That seemed every bit as good as V-Power.

But,(and I know we're talking in tiny variences) the RV8 as standard in the Chim is supposed to be fed 98 as a minimum. V- Power is 98 and the Tesco stuff advertised as 99. BUT along with the Total 97 BP Ultimate is also 97 which just maybe is why so many seem to prefer V-Power over Ultimate. Hard to believe such a tiny 1 point can make a noticable difference but there does definitely seem to be a preference to V-Power (me included). Nick.

V Power for me too! There is a reason Tesco petrol is cheaper! It doesn't have all the cleaners and UCL that Shell does.

I'm in N W Surrey, why are most of the local Shell stations out of V Power, and some have been for a week or two?

It's been going on for several weeks. I posted this just after Xmas http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Another recommendation for Total Excellium 97 here. Moved to it from BP, and car feels much better.
