Diff or wheel bearing?

My car is making a strange wuring noise from the rear of the car. you can hear it most when the roof is on, You notice it around about 50mph in any gear and then is seems to fade away after about 65

I think if it's a wheel bearing you'll notice the noise goes away when turning left or right; basically swerve your way up an empty road.

I got this sort of whining about 3 months after having my diff rebuilt; the mechanic took me up the road and diagnosed wheel bearing using this technique.
