1000th Vanquish

Not exactly exclusive any more...

Aston Martin celebrated a significant moment in July when the 1000th V12 Vanquish came off line at its Newport Pagnell facility.

The Tungsten Silver car was completed on Monday, July 7th 2003 and is now being tested and checked prior to being shipped to a customer in Japan. Production of Aston Martin’s flagship model began in September 2001, since then interest from around the world has resulted in waiting lists of up to 12 months for some customers.

Last year, Aston Martin achieved an all-time high of 1551 cars being delivered to customers in 29 different countries. North America is the single largest export market for Aston Martin (around 35%) followed by the UK, Germany, France and Switzerland.

"It’s a very important occasion for us," said Dr Ulrich Bez, CEO of Aston Martin. "There is huge interest in our company and products around the world and I’m really delighted that the 1000th Vanquish should be going to Japan as this has traditionally been a market where our customers are very loyal to the brand."

All Aston Martin sports cars continue to be built individually to the exact specification and requirements of every customer, offering an infinite choice of bespoke body colours and upholstery schemes. During the past 12 months Vanquish models have been supplied in almost 80 different exterior and 40 interior colour specifications.

What do they mean? It is still exclusive to me, it is one of my favourite cars and a good one.

Good grief! that's very quick.

The old V8's took...er...16 years to reach that point.

Its nice that they are selling so well. And of course its stille xclusive. 1000 cars in a world wide market is very exclusive...

If there's 80 different body colours, why do 90% of Vanquish buyers choose the same blimmin' colour (Tungsten silver)?

It made a pleasant change to see a black one at Goodwood at the weekend.

Well said, I would love one, it will have to wait until I win the lottery though.

I think the Vanquish has awkward lines, it's far too heavy considering it's aluminium-sandwich-honeycomb whatever construction.

Aston once stood for exclusivity and craftsmanship.

Now it's a shameless explotation by Ford to make some money.

I think it looks best in Tungsten silver and its also the Bond colour so would be popular.

From the side profile it has a fat arse but from the front it is just gorgeous.

I would still rather a 575 Maranello though as you can have a proper gearbox.

Definetaly wud ave 1.
The car looks Brilliant, it sounds like a thunderstorm and drives like....like....An Aston Martin, VERY VERY QUICK.

The tungsten silver makes it look really good, the black looses some of the lines and other than green which is nice i cant comment.

This car looks imposing Like Vinnie Jones. Not for the light harted

It's clearly not the hand-made car the old V8 was, but still over £150K!
