Can the headlights on a 2000 W reg Chimeara be easily (low cost) upgraded to incorporate the flared perspex covered design of the latest cars (similar to Griffith)

The headlight surrounds are removeable, can one simply source the other parts to upgrade? The headlights themselves may need to be changed, but this may have hidden performance advantages.

Comments anyone?

Performance advantages? maybe 2mph more top speed and awful night vision (Assuming same headlamps are used).

I've wondered this myself - I think the enclosed lights on the late model Chim look great. If anyone knows please post here!

I wondered about this and had the chance to look at a 2001 model with them fitted at the Essex meet last Sunday,The problem is the headlight is actually fitted further back into the wing and the holes that are there to fix the head light cowl in place are all filled in to give a smooth appearance as with the Griffith.
Plus the headlights dont have the mastic that hold them in place and rough edge that shows, after you remove the cowl.
The only way i could see would be to fill the cowl fixing holes and change the headlight but i dont think the perspex cover will fit as it may be too big due to the different position of the headlight.
I did hear that TVR can retro fit them but not 100% on that.

Zertec were going to do them, dont think they completed the project though.

You could get a late model Chim...

Oh, and just in case you fancy ordering them from TVR be prepared for a wait. When that stupid woman reversed into me I had to wait for 3 weeks for TVR to make one...

The reason for asking the question, was that I am pi**ed off cleaning out the remains of hundreds of dead insects everytime I clean the car
