Does anyone have details of how to change a leaky oil sender unit and sources of supply. I can't see anything in the search facility and Steve Heath doesn't seem to cover this.

Easy or difficult job?

If you mean the pressure sender, are you sure it is the sender leaking? TVR have used a sender that doesn't mate with the RV8, so a threaded brass adapter fits between the block & sender - this is a common failure point.

Thanks - the unit i refer to looks like brass, circular, measuring approx 2-3 inches and sits under the drivers side base of engine. It has a nipple where the oil feed/return pipe fits, is as best as i can describe it. There is a good picture in teh Bible but nothing to do with changing it. Its leaking at the join of the pipe & unit (a common problem i gather!)

Does this description make it any clearer or ring any bells ?

confused The senders (and switch) screw into the block.. There are no pipes or nipples that I am aware of, the oil ways are part of the engine block.

You would only have pipes in that area if an oil cooler or remote filter have been added. A brass tee could have been added I suppose, but all these things are non-std which makes it impossible to comment on as 'the world is your oyster' when modding...

A picture might help wink
