Just seen some info on Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, and my word it has some features on it that should turn PHs weak at the knees.

My favourite of which is a soon to be added update that will allow you to play with 'live weather'. In that, if you're driving the 'Ring on that game, and it's raining in Nurburg, it will be raining in the game. Pointless? Incredibly. Unbelievably cool? Absolutely.

The graphics are incredible of course, but there's also going to be damage in the full game along with the Top Gear Test Track, 16 player lag-free online multiplayer and what eurogamer describe as a 'photo realistic' London course.

I'm quite excited about this.

Check out the review here: http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=90...

Damage? Really?

That must have taken some significant negotiations.

What's wrong with a C5 Z06 that sounds like a Honda Civic? rolleyes

Or a V8 S Type R that sounds like a whistling haridryer when you add a sports exhaust?

Or AI that doesn't accept that you want to use the track space it intended to use. Would sir like to be pushed onto the grass?

Or when they bump into you on Special Stages mode and you get a 5 sec penalty.

Or front wheel drive cars that fling their tails out when you hit the throttle mid corner. What's wrong with that?

Or when you buy a car famed for its tail - out heroics (TVR, Mustang GT, RX-8) only to find out that the only way to get them to slide like they do in real life is to fit hard tyres on the back and soft on the front. And then watch you spin away all the power, despite the fact that you actually selected a limited slip diff.

Yeah, like you, I can't wait rolleyes

It's going to have to be some game to better Forza 2, and I was a GT fan boy in the pre 360/PS3 days. I think GT is more like car Pokemon, they're more interested in doing super accurate car models and putting hundreds of cars in the game than giving the cars realistic handling etc... Still can't wait for it though!

I've tried the demo downloaded off the Japanese store and was pleased with what it offered.

The sound is a huge improvement (R8 sounds sooo nice) even down to the change in wind noise on the in car view whilst slipstreaming. Still way to much tire screech though.

Handling is very nice, you have two modes, a more traditional GT type of handling and a mode that kind of fills a gap between Forza and GT, I really liked it, need to try it with more varied cars though.

Ai is improved but not as much as I hoped, still get shunted randomly on the odd occasion but I've also had some decent battles with AI cars properly defending their line and also pushing to get past me, this has been quite noticeable in the replays.

I think its a huge move forward from the limited play I've had, its just left me wanting the full game.

Any idea where the demo is on the Japanese store (and how to find it)?

All I can find is a video and something costing 4,500 yen.

Cheers

You have to have a Japanese credit card to download it. I was very annoyed when I discovered that this evening.

The handling is pretty realistic on GT4, you just have to make sure all the steering and handling modes are set to simulation and pro. As you do in the GT5 Prologue demo.

You can make it even better in GT4 if you mess about with the setups.

I've got the concept demo and am totally loving it.

I owned a Lotus Elise ending a few months ago and the handling on GT Concept seems pretty accurate to me.

I'm using a Logitech G25 Wheel/Pedals/Gears on a Vision Racer setup if that makes the difference!

I was considering GT4 for the interim period, but it sounds like it had problems with the handling physics. Is that the general concensus or views of the minority?

I've played some demo on my brothers PS3 using his G25 and i have to say i was quite impressed with it. It may even push me to buy a PS3 when GT is released.

They were playing a demo of apparently GT5 at the PH show, on the Stuff stand. It was in a civic type R around suzuka. The level of detail was amazing, and there was an interior view. Still no damage though.

Love the lighting, if the handling and sound is improved I can't see Forza putting up much of a fight.

Actually, you can use as 5000yen PSN point card, bought from somewhere like PlayAsia. I've had GT5P since launch, about a month back. The online is great fun BUT has many issues, the main problems being lag and arseholes racers. Also, there's no way of meeting up with friends for a race, it total random as to who you are joined up with. You can't even look at your friends best laptimes, you have to scroll through 1000s of laptimes in the vain attempt to see where they are.

Anyway, that being said, I've had a lot of fun. Main game + online + Time Trialing has given me around 60-70 hours of play and it was well worth a purchase.

It was only up for a limited time to coincide with the Tokyo motor show.
