I have sold my monaro, but still have the double din adaptor I ordered in from the US at great expense.

Would this be of use to any of you guys?

Please im me if you would like it - £15 to cover facia, jiffy bag and postage.

Then me, as long as i can get a double din sat nav/dvd/cd/mp3 6" television for about a fiver to go in the gap! As this probably won't happen , i will put up with the standard head unit, turn it off and open the windows instead - a much better sound track imo.

standard is quite good just the lack of RDS is a complete let down

I'm by no means an audiophile, however the HU (alpine) in our Zaf, connected to GM standard speakers blows the Monaro's 8 speaker set up to bits. The subs in the Ro are next to useless and the clarity is like listening through an eggbox(IMO) I had a manufacturers BOSE set up in my previous car..... now THATS good sound quality.
Like i said, open the windows.......
PS
And don't get me started on the RDS thing!soapbox

I dont have an issue with teh cars set up I think its pretty good. You have adjusted the gain to your subs in the boot haven't you?

I too had bose in my previous car which sounded nice but certainly nothing to shout about

Got it, double din in large jiffy bag to 'tonteg'

I think the standard stereo sounded ok, it was just the lack of rds, blue tooth or sat nav that made me think about replacing it....

Yes turned the gain up to full (and then slightly down a touch to prevent distortion of the amp (even though controlled from the HU the amp will still distort)
My problem is not with volume more so with quality of sound. maybe i've just been spoilt.......
I wojuld like to hear anyone elses opinion on this - and if people are happy with double din replacement HU's

Hi Wolfracer,

I did not mind the factory head unit too much, but I replaced all the speakers other than the subs in my car - also soundproofed everything at the same time. I am not much of a audiophile but sounded ok but missed Mp3 etc, so shoved in a nice JVC double din DVD player.

Still very happy with it but would maybe like a little more bass at some point (Holden actually sealed the rear shelf on my car to the rear window seal) so could not be bothered at the time. I did think about wiring up my old Infinity Basslink but decided against it.

Once the factory one is tweaked I thought ok sound. I have 14 ways speakers all 2ohms in my car.

Cheers
Steven
