Removing UJ's from driveshafts
Discussion
Just making sure. When I changed mine last year I just tapped them off with a suitable flat point punch and hammer.
It was a lot easier as I had them all on the bench as compete dumbell unit's. There is a flat shoulder that you can use without damaging the cv and it doesn't take that much to get them off. Had to tap on the new ones as well. Worth checking them off the d/s as you'll be able to look for signs of wear on the spline of the d/s and the cv.
How does the grease look ? Any greying, if so I would change them. I have a link for replacements . .

They're der, but I replaced all 4, as then I knew they'd be good for another 60k

If you are suspicious of them I would replace them, and if they have been running dry then there is likely to have been wear.
Remember to get Moly grease to pack into them. I used one tub for all 4.

Sorry about earlier, was on the way out... If they don't move at all you need to either drift them off or try & get a puller on I would have thought, cant see a bit of heat & lube going amiss (you aren't in a rush are you). If they are solid I think you really need to part them & replace whatever is damaged, lobro &/or shaft. Must have been a bugger to get off if they didn't concertina as they are supposed to

How do you mean Dave? Concertina? They came off the diff easily and the still flex as they should.

Just doesnt seem to want to leave the splines. Then again after nearly 16 years......
Right guys, I have cleaned and checked one of the CV joints and there are some very light witness marks but nothing major.
The grease looks fine, not too grey.
However, they all feel, "notchy" , is this normal?
When you move them through there motion , they arent exactly smooth.
Should they feel very smooth to move?
