Evening all

I'm looking to buy a few shiny bits for my GSXR600 K4, namely some rearsets & new brake/clutch levers.

I had Gilles rearsets on my R1 before and loved them. However i'm thinking of trying something new and am leaning towards some Arata ones from Faster By Design. I also like the Sato ones but they seem hard to get over here.

For the levers i was thinking CRG shorty for the brake and possibly the CRG Supersport clutch, again with the shorty lever. I also really like the ISR kit as well.

I'm just after some good info/advice/ user experience from the PH massive before i part with my hard earned. Anyone got, used, had any of the above or have any useful info??

Cheers,

Johnny

Do the ones already on the bike still work?

Thought they would...

Keep the bike standard and give the money to charity instead.
Apart from reaping the rewards in the next life (karma, man) your bike will be worth more when you come to sell it.

And really, do new levers and pegs make you such a better rider?

Thought not...

Nah, it's your bike, your money; you can gold plate and cover it in rhinestones if you want!

wink

Yes, yes, yes... All the bits still workwink.

I was thinking of replacing the bike, i NEED and RC8. Or possibly an 848...

Anyway, i don't really have the funding for either so decided to keep the Gixxer (which i do love) and lavish her with a few new bits to make her happy and make me happy to ride and look at her.

The Gilles on my R1 were just so much better than standard, i just loved the higher foot position. And the looks...

The levers i have been thinking about for a couple of years but having seen a Blade with CRG shorties on at the Ace last week, i'm just smitten!

I think i'm being sensible...

Smiler.

I am struggling to understand how someone can go from a R1 to a GSXR600 confused I used to ride 600`s, now moved up to litre bikes, I could never go down again.

Roy

The R1 got written off and the tt drove off so it came off my insurance. I decided to get a 600 again as it would be cheap to buy, and also because at the time i thought it would cost me a fortune insure a litre bike again...

However, with my mate having just had a similar thing happen with his ZX6R and him now blatting round on an 04 ZX10, i maybe got it wrong!

My plan was to keep the 600 for a few years and then get an RC8 when it came out... I'm trying to be sensible.

Nothing more fun than flying passed a 1000 on a 600 - good enough for me!

PT - Performance Technology lever setups - good value and High quality. ISR are a bit gimiky IMHO and expensive!

Not seen the PT levers, will take a look.

I'm leaning towards some Sato rearsets now that i've found somewhere in the UK to get them. Possibly in pimptastic gold, along with gold CRG levers.

Although i may go with black as the gold may be a bit...much. I really don't know.

The more i look at the ISR stuff the less i want it at the moment. But my mind changes every 3 seconds so i may think they're the best thing ever later.

Why not just get a brembo master cylinder and a matching clutch lever? Well worth the money and they will serve more of a purpose that just cosmetics??

I've just fitted a set of Pazzo short levers on my R1, only ridden it once with them on, love the short brake lever, not so sure on the short clutch. Got to get used to it I guess. Quality wise they are outstanding, perfect fitment. Get a set from the US, I paid £80 per set (bought a set for my bro's R6 aswell) they are something like £135 per pair over here.

Did the clutch weight feel heavier with the short lever? I was thinking of going for the Supersport clutch perch which gives a bit more adjustability, with a variable leverage ratio to make the pull a bit lighter which i thought would help with the shorter lever...? A few guys on the R1 forum found the short clutch levers weird at first but ended up liking them. I just don't want to end up with a clutch that give you cramp in the hand in traffic, it's bad enough as it is.

Have heard good things about both CRG & Pazzo but saw the CRGs first, so decided on them.

Have spoken to PDQ today and will be putting the bike in for a Power Commander, K&n filter & custom map, service, pair of 2CTs and will go for the CRG levers and have decided on the Sato rearsets.

Should be ordering/ booking it all tomorrow. I'm quite excited. Ooh, shiny bits...

Hopefully should all be done in a couple of weeks. Maybe the weather might even improve? Ha, yeah right.

No the clutch still feels as light as before, no problems there, it's just getting used to it I think. If I use just two fingers as designed then I crush the other fingers against the bars, so when I rode it (I've only used it once since fitting) I found myself squeezing three fingers onto the lever. No doubt I'll get used to it soon enough. The brake lever on the other hand is brilliant as obviously the lever doesn't come back to the bar.

OK, sounds good.

Maybe i can get away with just a lever on the clutch side as well then, rather than needing the whole Supersport assembly...

I'm waiting for eMoto to come back with a quote for all the bits.

How easy was it to fit the levers? Bearing in mind my mechanical ineptitude...?

if you're mechanically inept, do you really want to be playing with the brake/clutch system?

pretty straightforward stuff, but I'd leave it to the pro's if you're not sure what you're doing.

Which was my thinking in the first place. I'm sure i could do it, i'm not stupid or THAT inept, but probably best left to someone who is better at it than i!

It's just that sometimes people make you feel like a bit of a useless if you're unable to strip an engine in your lunch hour...

Cheers,

Not sure on the CRG levers, but the Pazzo's are rediculously easy to fit, I'm talking literally 5 minutes a side, if that.
