Hi everyone - realise this should be more at home in the SP6 forum, but I figure this is more populated! Mods please move if you feel appropriate!
I'm thinking of changing my 400 Chim later this year and am finding myself seriously tempted by a Tuscan, 350 or possibly even a Tam. I've had the Chim for the past 3 years with no problems (its driven daily) but I prefer to do all my own servicing and work on the car. For many reasons, not least because I enjoy it. Obviously, in comparison to the sp6 the rv8 is pretty agricultural but is it possible to maintain an sp6 yourself? I'm mechanically minded and have a tame mechanic, so i have access to lifts and stuff, should I need them. But i've noticed while browsing the forums that the sp6 needs a lot of adjustment at servicing time? valve clearances and stuff I can cope with, but I think I read somewhere that the individual throttle pots need calibrating? Are there figures and calibrations readily available for this sort of thing? Or is it confined to dealer only?
If everything you need is available somewhere on the net, then I think i'd probably go for it. If not I might just settle for a 500 Griff!
Thanks ahead for any replies,
Mark
