What different routines and products does everybody use during the winter when keeping their cars clean?

Still using the two bucket method but its pretty soul destroying. Managed to get it washed and waxed two days ago but it looks dreadful again now.

Living in a farming village doesnt help I guess. I dont power wash in winter as it removes the wax.

I rinse car, snow foam, rinse, bit of Meguiars All Purpose Cleaner, foam again, agitate, (optional 2 bucket wash here if bad), rinse and dry. I use a pressure washer.

I use Collinite wax in the Winter as it lasts well.

I aim to maintain car as far as possible but accept a black daily driver can't look its best through Winter.

I just use 'Snow foam' in the foaming lance with the pressure washer at this time of year... I can remove 80% of dirt / grime on the paintwork without touching it with a wash mitt

I use CG Citrus wash, two bucket method, and an open hose, followed by Meguiars Last Touch Detail spray, P21S on the wheels and then a synthetic wax if the weather is above 8c. Its tough work with the roads being so dirty!

Snow foam and my hot jet wash dose the job for me wink leave to dry (RO watersmile) unless its raining like it always is

I have to rinse the van down most days and only touch wash it once a week if i can

If the car is very dirty and I mean to the point of the lowers starting to look a distinct shade of brown instead of foaming first I tend to pressure wash the car (at an angle, not that close to the paint) to shift the initial dirt.

I will then foam the car which will take some dirt with it and soften the rest so that the pressure wash rinse removes even more dirt.

These two steps alone remove about 90% of the dirt, I then proceed with a two bucket wash (I would have cleaned the wheels before with a separate bucket and wash mitt and brush) and then rinse with filtered water.

I've never heard of this snow foam thing, but it sounds as though it's pretty good. I've got an ordinary Karcher pressure washer - would I be able to use snow foam with it ?

TIA, Chris

Call Autobrite and let them know you have a Karcher (getting the correct fitment), and some Super Snow Foam or Bilt Hamber Auto Wash and you'll end up with something like thus:

Sorry for nicking your pic James - first one to hand that I could remember.

You can use Snow Foam with the standard Karcher set-up. It won't foam as well as the pictures you see here. Then you'll get Lance envy and want to buy a dedicated Snow Foam lance. They are about £50.

I got one from this seller on eBay. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HEAVY-DUTY-FOAM-LANCE-5L-SNO...

-Includes Snow Foam. 5 litres will last ages.

I know Mark had a few issues, but from what I gather this is no longer the case for a fair while now.

Thanks for the info fellas. It looks the real deal, and £50 from the ebay seller, including the foam, doesn't seem too bad.

better pop back over to detailing world - Autobrite are having to go back to their supplier/manufacturerlaugh

its a cock up and then trying to blame Karcher for a non Karcher product?
