ok, you know what? I f***ing hate DRLs. I've driven my friend's toyota corolla, and every frickin time I stop the car in the driveway, those damn things shine up at me off the garage, and I think, oh man, I'm such an idiot, I've been driving all day with my lights on. In fact, however, regardless of whether I'm an inattentive driver, I looked like a complete dumbass b/c I didn't have the option to turn the damn things off! Ok, I gotta say this. its evolution. if someone's life is saved by their noticing lights on the front of a car, and the fact that a large, close to 3000 lb object moving rapidly isn't enough for them, well, that's a life that didn't need to be saved. morons like that are going to be the end of the species. Let's thin the herd. f*** GM. f*** anyone who uses their driver-incompetence saving features like DRLs and Onstar. What a crock! if you are lost, ASK directions! call a friend for crissakes. Don't put a blue idiot button on the dash of my new toyota avalon, cadillac, lexus, or any other nameplate that happens to not think highly enough of their owners to realize they don't need this crap. About the only nifty piece of tech I've seen out of GM in a while is the infrared cameras on devilles. some of you might be talking about the clever computers that keep caddies from torque steer, and to that I have to just say that if they were rwd in the first place, nobody would have needed the damn yaw-control, pitch sensors, blah, blah, blah, BULLSHIT. I love mr bob lutz, but if he runs that company into the ground, I think it'd be better for the whole auto industry in the long run.... mandating drls.... thats the f***ing last straw, I tell you....

I reckon a bigger hazard is that cars are too quiet these days. More noisy cars!

It strikes me that people see and hear my car coming, then just step out into the road anyway...

Have people been so brainwashed into believing the car driver is at fault no matter what that they take such stupid chances ??

The should alter the 'at fault' so that it's the pedestrian who's automatically at fault - might make people look before they step out. Just bring it in line with other road law - if you pull out without looking in your car and get hit, you're at fault - why shouldit be any different when you're a pedestrian?

Perhaps they should also put an idiot warning on the front of cars : "Caution : This vehicle might hurt/Kill you if it hits you (so get out of the road - you Idiot !!)

Excellent idea. I would vote for you if you ran for government !!

Only problem is, the green/anti car mob would hate you for it.

Maybe its to do with a motorist stands more chance of survival, so put the onus on the motorist to avoid the ped, thus boosting the number of voters for the next election (as in less flat ones?)? Or am I too cynical.
I seem to remember as well a few years ago that in the US they had to put a warning on the back of those big sun screens warning you not to drive with them in, or is that an urban myth?

Volvo did start it all, but all the volvos that I have ever been in have the option to turn them off! There is normally a screw or similar that can be turned!!!
In places like Scandinavia you can understand why they are needed but in the UK? It's more anti-car pish!!

that was the whole idea to be seen in snow and blizzard conditions,
when i done my bike test 2 years ago i was told its always best to ride with your lights on so you stand out,
now cars are going to be doing it what chances have me and many other bikers got of being seen ,

Just watch the motorcycling accident rate go up !

In my opinion, it would just be dangerous to ride a bike woithout your lights on! Sometimes it's hard enough to see cars, depending on distance and light conditions! A car that is filling the width if a lane! If all cars and bikes looked the same. ie, lights on, it would be very difficult!

i dont know if it was blizzard conditions that were behind the idea , what i can say from living in the land of Volvo is that the day light for most of the year is very low and comes in from low angles the sun never getting very high, i was against them but after living here i can see the point in them "HERE" where conditions suit .

And as Damngt raged , all this anti yaw , pitch ,spin whatever is just technology to help out poor designs-Drivers.
