fedex - bastards
Discussion
Made a very expensive mistake a couple of weeks ago.
I left the office for lunch. GRRR
Basically we had someone interested in our products and wanted to send him literature etc, fair enough, they said they have asked fedex to pick up the goods from us and take them to him.
I thought no problem. Left the box downstairs with the
in the warehouse, a few days later I go out for lunch and recieve a phone call "alright boss, fedex are here to pick up that parcel, they want an account number"
I don't have their account number, they never gave it to me!
Tell them to come back tomorrow.
The
gives him the parcels anyway (30kg!) and the delivery driver fills in the form and tells us to call the offices with their account number. I for some reason forgot about this and a few days later an invoice has landed on my doorstep for £450!!!
I didn't agree to this at all, the delivery driver filled in the form and stated that the sender (us!) was to pay for the shipment and the warehouse monkey signed it.
What can I do? I have told fedex, they are just a bunch of tw@ts blame me, even though their del driver filled in the form.
Ideas? The warhouse monkey wasn't authorised to sign the paperwork either.

Just don't pay it - and state your case in writing that you are not liable. If the client booked the courier I am sure that they fully intended to pay the bill and booked the collection through their account.
The courier now dont know the account number and passed it onto you.
However I would check exactly what the 'monkey' has signed for and make sure he gets a rocket up his ass for signing away your companies rights without checking first.

I have the paper on my desk, he/she (could either be the office lady or warehouse goon)signed that the SENDER aka US will pay charges. The courier now dont know the account number and passed it onto you.

The piece of shit that turned up to collect the parcel said, apparently, "no worries mate, they know the account number, if not ring up with the account number"
I don't know the number hence why they should come LATER!
I need to figure out a way of firing this so called rocket, any ideas? It was directly disobeying what I told them to do as well, they listed to the
from fedex rather than me.I hate courier companies, they can all kiss my ass. The only one I have had positive dealings with is APC, that's because they are small and local and care. Internationally I just use brokers
http://www.wedelivertheworld.co.uk/ - they are a nice bunch, after we got sick of the t

It could be said that after you told the warehouse guy/gal what to do the Fedex guy came up with a solution and showed the guy/gal how your client in the US would pay. You could say that they were using their own initiative - I think punishment would be harsh in that scenario.
However, this is a lot of ammo against Fedex. I would suggest putting it *in writing* once and letting it run. Then you have put forward your case, and if they dont accept that and *if* it gets passed to the stage that they consider taking you to court you can inform them that their paperwork says anything but you are liable and they will give up.
I feel your pain over courier companies. We dropped a contract with a company with ironically the same trading name as the chemical letters for Dynamite. The client manager was all very nice selling us onto it, checking our packaging etc and telling us how breakages would be compensated, until a few months later there were breakages, and lo and behold they told us that our packaging was suspect and they wouldnt pay out...
The other contract we had after that was with someone that rhymes with Shi**y Link.
Again, all fine until an admin error 'loses' one of our parcels. Well not quite lost, but I am told that delivery was attempted three times and told the customer wasnt there. So I got recharged for the parcel to be returned to me. This wouldnt be so bad except I did not believe 3 attempts had happened - otherwise the driver would have discovered that the recipient was a school, who certainly had about 20 teachers and 300 kids there at each of the 3 times it was supposedly attempted.
At the same time as this we had breakages claims for boxed that were literally destroyed in transit - like ripped to pieces with the broken contents falling out.
I faxed the details as asked by them to claim my compensation. Three weeks later it hadnt arrived - but their invoice for the 'broken' and 'undeliverable' delivery had not arrived. I rang them up and told them I would not be paying until my claim was processed.
Then the next invoice a month later arrived. I didnt pay that either. And the next, and still none of the contractual compensation or even anyone call me to talk about it. But... they did ring to find out why I was not paying my invoices. So, I told them I wasnt going to until I get my compensation for the breakages.
Still no compensation, and another invoice. Now though, I rang up on one of the busiest days of the year with about five or six clients expecting parcels from us the next day, and we are told that our service had been put on hold - until will pay the invoices!
I spoke to the accounts department, who put the block on, and explained *again* why I wasnt paying, and that unless we could use the service today we would have to take our business elsewhere. I am told that the 'Accounts Boss Lady' was the only person who could take the block off. Excellent - can I speak to her, as this is urgent!? Hold on, no. She is busy. Right, where is she exactly?.... Oh - she is just across the desk from me, she is not speaking to a customer or anything she just told me that she was too busy to speak to you!!!
So, does she know that if she can't spend literally a minute speaking to me she will lose me as a customer??? Yes. Fine.....
I was astonished, and rang to close my contract with my account manager. The then told me about all of this brilliant new ISO accreditation they have. I asked them if it was so great why I hadnt got my refund - I was told I hadnt filled out the right form....
Of course, she couldnt explain why no-one had yet who I had spoken to had had the wherewithall to send me this 'form'.
The situation escalated and I was told that the forms would arrive. I stopped using them, and in the meantime I got a 'Final Warning' letter asking for payment - including the cost of couriering boxes they destroyed, but no compensation. Still. I rang up a final time and told them I *still* would not be paying as I *still* had not received these forms.
Instead of sending me the forms they send me a county court summons...

They also have a pseudo-partner called SenditNow which I think is also them which we use which if the consignment is a single parcel they are cheaper. About £10.99 for next day up to 30kg off the top of my head.
I don't book it myself but off the
