**************...... BEWARE!!!!!!

If you are thinking of buying a car from this company, my advice is stay well clear!

A couple of years ago after lots of research and tyre kicking, i purchased a TVR Chimera from them. Rather than buy a second hand car from a private seller i thought i would pay a premium and buy one from a dealership.......BIG MISTAKE!

Upon doing the deal on the car i agree with the salesman that the car is serviced and the headlamp surround is fitted properly as it was rattling around badly.

On the day i went to pick the car up having paid 17K for it, i went to *****, Just outside Heathfield to pick it up........I was greeted with a very frosty reception and was lead to belive the car was being valeted round the back.....after an hour and a half of waiting with the staff avoiding eye contact, and completley ignoring the fact i was sat in there empty show room, I gatherd somthing wasnt quite right. Spool on annother half and hour and the salesman emerges from the glass panneled office where he and the boss have been hiding and making many phone calls to tell me "it wasnt ready yet and was still being serviced"..............

OK, fair enough i thought hoping it was being loked after by a decent mechanic, id rather wait and make sure its A1 condition before I take it away..........all be a bit strange from them to keep me waiting so long to tell me that!

I then found out it was being worked on by a mate of theirs who ran a Citron speacialist back street garage in a nearby industrial estate.

The car eventually turned up and i was handed over the keys and off i went. As it was given to me with no fuel in it i had to stop in nearby Lewes a few miles down the road to fill up with fuel, paid the caisher got in car, turned key.....nothing!!!!! - got on phone to ****************** who flatley rufuse to do anything about it until they are open the next day and suggest i use my own recovery service to get it home
spool on an hour and it fires up and i get the car back to them next day to get problem sorted. I then realise they havnt bother to even touch the headlamp surround as previously agreed.

wait for days and days until its finally ready - (turned out to be a dodgy starter solenoid)

A month down the line its running like a sack of shit, so i decide to take it to Austec racing in Crawley for a diagnostics as i have now no faith in ESMC technical department/Citron mechanic.....I inform them that i have taken the car to a specialist to sort out the problem and that i would like to claim any work on the warranty.

The guys at ***** agree that the work should be carried out at Austec Racing, as they are specialists and it would solve the problems.

Austec replace leads plugs dissy and other elctronicsand also the clutch. Then they find the flywheel had a hole in it caused by a hairline crack, which had put the timimg out badly - i didnt belive it until i was it in the flesh!

To cut an allready long story short i ended up having a stand off with the salesman and the FAT owner of ****
because the warrenty he sold me on the car did not cover anything and the dealership completley turned their back on me.

I ended up spending 2500 of my own money on repair costs and didnt get so much as an apology from the W*nkers at *****.

This was a terrible experience for me and i would hate anyone from here to go through the stress and expense that i had to.

I am aware TVR had a reputation for being a bit unreliable which is the reason i bought the car from a dealership to cover my back should anything go wrong........no such luck but not only that, they were extreamly rude to me from the offset and put the phone down on me countless times.

Please Dont buy a Car from *****

Recover the money through the small claims court. Very easy user-friendly process. Good luck.

Did you get the car checked over by anyone who knows TVR's prior to purchase?

Sorry to hear of your problems - but one question -
You say you purchased this car a couple of years ago. Why have you only now decided to post against this garage?

Sorry to hear you troubles Cutlerp, I have been caught out before by dealerships so called "in-house" warranties...cost me a new engine, radiator and a new diff(since when was a busted diff wear and tear?).
Learnt my lesson the expensive way and will only trust an indipendant warranty now.

If the car had all those problems when sold it wasnt fit for purpose. Therefore pull the Sale of Goods Act on them and tell them to fix it or refund your cash......

Of thats what you could have done at the time...

For some reason my post has been editied, (not by me) and the name of the company has been deleted, which was the whole point of this post, to warn people about the shoddy garage.

Just to confirm its called ********

I have not been active in the forums for a while but i recently was on the look out for annother performance car and it was then i realised that i dont want people to go through what i have. Also looking at their website, the stock is quite expensive so god knows what the costs would be if you had an issue with a ferrari etc

Mod Edit: PH follows a no naming and shaming policy, you can find why Here

I'm not sure whether I'm missing the point here or not (like the name was left intentionally because it's not actually directly naming and shaming them), but the name of 2 garages still remain in the original post.

Austec are obviously mentioned favourably - the other not quite so?

I think this could be a bit harsh on ****, they didn't supply the car or have a relationship with the original poster before this, and they would have either had commitments to other customers and their cars, or even be closed for service when he called. They didn't say go away they said they could help the next day or he could have had it recovered to them. They had no obligation to recover it there and then or for free.
If you are concerned over recovery costs, buy AA recovery/relay cover.

I don't think the OP is referring to the main dealer in that area.

There's another outfit nearby that does secondhand stuff, from Ferraris, Porkers and Lambos to mundane stuff. Shedloads of Beemers and Mercs, mainly. I've heard plenty of bad stuff about them. They have full page ads in the local press...

Indeed......this is not about the TVR/Lotus main dealer

it IS ABOUT THE NEARBY GARAGE JUST OUTSIDE OF HEATHFIELD. As youve mentioned they do a variety of cars and post on the local papers etc...........

REPEAT NOT NOT NOT TVR MAIN DEALER!!! - They are the good guys!

So you were so concerned about others falling into the same trap that you go public about it 2 years later when the people who dealt with you may not even be there?

Isn't that a slightly odd thing to do confused
