Hi guys

Does anyone know where I can get a static DB test done in the yorks area? I've heard the Nurburgring have started strictly imposing a 95db noise limit and I just want to check I'm ok before we go

Cheers

I have a sound level meter. anyone who installs or tests fire alarms will have one too.

If you want to meet up to use it not a problem.

Well I do live about 3 mins away from Elvington. Pretty much near Elvington and Melbourne drag strip.

If your company does install fire alarms they will definitely have a sound level meter.

Remember if getting someone to test with their own meter then you need to be sure it's been calibrated - for example it's possible to buy a noise meter from Maplin, but without calibration it's not comparable. I assume prof. alarm fitters etc though would be calibrated properly.

But if you don't get it measured before, Javelin are at Elvington on 9th Feb. I got my MK measured there when I first bought it and got measured at 112dBA biggrin - needless to say the carbon race can has now gone :P

It can still be hit-and-miss though, dependant on conditions etc. As my car is now it generally reads about 101dbA, but I've head readings as low as 96dBA at Cadwell.

Tip.

Find out how they test at the Nurburgring.

0.5m at 45 degree angle from chimney end is the usual way in the UK but there's also the 8m test at 90 degrees to centre of vehicle.

Yup they all have to be calibrated.

My car depends on how hot or cold it is as to the noise level. When it's cold it is noisy as hell!!
