Headlamp lens alignment ?

Having successfully removed the fairing, lens, cleaned the reflectors and replaced the bulbs to improve the lights and now removed the old mastic, it not so clear where to reposition the lens ? It's a year 2000, 450.

There is a 'groove' at the bottom, in the silver painted area, but if I position the lens there, there is a good few mm gap at the top .. seems it will need a lot of mastic ?

I guess the lens (top) is angled back slightly ... is it's position very critical ?

You will find its all about compromise between a nice fit in the body aperture and the surround fitting correctly,you may find it will take a few attempts,but dont make anything permanent until you have trial fitted both and you are happy with the gaps fit etc,the second one goes alot easiergood luck.
