Hi Everyone,

Please can someone reccomend the best place to buy an oil pressure sender.

I guess that it is a Rover part and TVR will expect more cash than a standard dealer. Are there any major diffrences I should be aware of?

As always thankyou for any help.

I had one changed last week, taking it (the car) back for a replacement 'cos the new sender is leaking. Dealer has told me that they've had a bad batch of these recently so watch out.
They cost 45 quid from a TVR dealer - dunno about LR, or if it's the same part (do LR's have oil pressure gauges?)

I don't think it's the same as the LR part, so you will need to go to a TVR dealer.
I replaced mine recently aswell because it was leaking, must have been quite a few bad ones out there.

Cheers for the info guys,

Apparantly there are two versions

Late version (£52.00)2" long body
Early version (32.00) 1" long body

Lets hope mine is the early one!

Fitted one to my 92 griff a week or so ago, very easy DIY job. It cost about £45 inc vat from TVR Centre in Barnet, North London. It is not a standard LR part and I beleive TVR have used different types of sender over the years so you need to get the right one for your car, best go to a TVR dealer/specialist for it.

What does your current sender look like? is it 'bell shaped' and covered in a rubber boot? Watch when fitting as there may be a thread adaptor between the sender and the oil filter housing, use some PTFE plumbers tape on the thread.

I believe the senders are made by a company called VDO (german???) I tried on the web to locate the part but had no luck.

Chris.

BTW mine just failed through old age (80K!) it was not leaking.

Rover (SD1) & Land Rover variants cost about £45 at Rimmers, TVR part seems reasonably priced.
