Front wheel 'skips' when reversing.
Discussion
A strange on this. When I reverse the car out of the garage on full lock (actually it does it going forwards too) going slowly the front wheel 'skips' across the ground. The only way I can try to explain how it feels is...it feels like the car is in gear, albeit a high one, it kind of jumps instead of the tyre moving across the ground smoothly.
The car has had in the near past a recon diff and I have been told it is because the diff is tight and not to worry about it.
What do you think guys?

Hi,
the rear diff would not have anything to do with the front wheel skipping when on full lock.
The front wheel skipping could be it coming into contact with the front suspension somewhere.
Best have a look underneath to see if you can see anything touching the tyre.
Hope this helps
Cheers roy

The front wheels don't run perfect geometry in corners, and in tight corners you will find that the two wheels fight against each other until one or other slips slightly. You can get a similar effect on a tight friction diff, where the diff locks the two rear wheels together until the load is high enough to overcome the static friction inside the diff and then they release with a clunk.

Sounds about right - my Chim does this too, it was explained to me by those in the know that its a result of the chim front geometry (and of course this means the griff too) on full lock the wheel dont track together exactly so you get the skipping.dingg said:

mine does it too - so is it a case of TADTS ?
Mine doesn't do this, should I be concerned? Is there a ModWise fix for this?
